You Have Found it

Have you ever read the scripture in Matthew 7:13-14 where Jesus said this: “Wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction and there are many who go in by it? Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life and there are few who find it.?” You have found a pearl of great price Matthew 13:46 in the scriptures and plain talk below.

Consider these absolute truths found in the Bible that everyone must face someday:

The Realization That There is a God:

The fool has said in his heart “There is no God” Psalms 53:1 “Look at my creation, which speaks an international language, and behold what you see which should make you understand and convince you that I exist. You are without excuse not to believe in a creator" Rom 1:18-20 and Acts 17:24-27. Job answered his critics and said “who among all these (ask the animals) does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this"? Job 12: 7-9. God says “to search for Him with all of your heart and I will be found by you” Jeremiah 29:13-14.

Life is Short:

“Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down” Job 14:1-2. “What is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanishes away” James 4:14.

Death is Certain:

“It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” Hebrews 9:27. The strength of man’s mind and the wealth of the world have been spent from earliest times to find a way to escape the fate of death. Still, all die.

Eternity is Long:

“And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal” Matthew 25:46.

Judgment is Sure:

“And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works” Revelation 20:12. “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body” 2 Corinthians 5:10.

The Only Way to be Saved

Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" John 14:6. Jesus is the author of salvation and through obedience, it is yours Hebrews 5:9. The Gospel of Christ is calling you. Read in your New Testament in the book of Acts about the beginning of the Lord’s church and study the conversions and see what the people did to be added to His church. It’s the same pattern today. Unless Jesus Christ and His Word are the focus of your religion, life you are lost because of your sins.

These conditions below are not passive but require action of the one seeking salvation:

  1. Believe on Jesus: Acts 16:31 John 8:24 Acts 8:36-37
  2. Repent (make a change in your life): Acts 2:38 Acts 17:30 Luke 13:3, 5
  3. Confess Jesus Christ: Matthew 10:32-33 Acts 8:36-38 Romans 10:10
  4. Be Baptized (immersed) for the remission of sins: If you have not been baptized for the remission of your sins, you still have every sin that you have ever committed Mark 16:16 Acts 2:38 Acts 22:16. Ask your minister if you were baptized for the remission of your sins? Saying the sinners prayer alone will not save you! In baptism you are brought into contact with the blood of Jesus by being baptized into His death. Romans 6:3-4 and 1 Peter 3:21.
  5. Live Faithfully unto Death: Revelation 2:10 Matthew 10:22 James 1:12

When a person hears the Gospel (good news) of Jesus Christ and believes that He is the son of God, repents of his sins, confesses His name and is baptized for the remission of his sins he is added to the church by the Lord Acts 2:41-47. The church belongs to Christ but yet He never gave it a proper name. Mans denominational names are not scriptural. The church, (or called out) is described several ways in the bible: body of Christ, the way, church of God, church of Christ, church of the living God, church of the first born, His bride, the flock.

A church of Christ meets 3 times a week at: 2660 Hunter Road, San Marcos, Texas.

You are invited to attend and will be welcomed by simply Christians. (the name given to His disciples in the New Testament. Acts 11:26)
